- The extended eight-track EP is due out on Hessle Audio in October.
Hessle Audio co-founder Pangaea will release a double-EP next month called Release.
The record goes beyond the EP format but falls short of being an album, if just barely so—at eight tracks in length, it clocks in somewhere near 45 minutes, making it his most substantial body of work to date. It's not the first time Pangaea has worked with this in-the-middle format: his self-titled EP from 2010 skirted a similar line, with six tracks spread across two 12-inches. Stylistically speaking, Release is classic Pangaea, with off-kilter, syncopated rhythms that stem from UK bass yet conversely defying easy categorization altogether. It will be available digitally, on vinyl and on CD.
