- The Brooklyn experimental trio will release their second album this month on Spectrum Spools.
OFF/ON, the second album from Brooklyn's FORMA, is set for release via Spectrum Spools on November 20th.
Crafting their kosmische-inspired sound from a raft of old synthesizers and drum machines, FORMA set the heady experimentalism of late '70s and early '80s electronic music to a driving beat. The trio—made up of Mark Dwinell, Sophie Lam and drum programmer George Bennett—made their debut last year with a self-titled album for Spectrum Spools whose song titles looked more like catalog numbers ("FORMA 211" and "FORMA 246/247," for example). Recorded at The Schoolhouse in Bushwick, Brooklyn, OFF/ON's ten tracks more or less follow the same pattern (with correspondingly higher numbers), with a few notable exceptions. You can head to Spectrum Spool's SoundCloud page to hear album opener "OFF."
