Bridges For Music announces 2013 schedule

  • The non-profit organisation has outlined its programme for a series of workshops, commencing next week in Cape Town and Johannesburg.

  • Bridges For Music has revealed its 2013 programme of workshops and concerts. Celebrated producer and DJ Richie Hawtin will be the main draw for the event, which runs in parallel with the Cape Town Electronic Music Festival (CTEMF). Proceedings will begin on Thursday, February 14th at the Guga S'thebe Arts and Cultural Centre in Cape Town. The programme, which runs from 4 PM until 8 PM, includes a screening of RA's recent Real Scenes documentary, a studio workshop with SAE and a two-hour cultural exchange featuring Hawtin and Black Coffee. Later the same day, UK streaming website Boiler Room will host its first South African event, with Black Coffee set to headline. With CTEMF taking place in Cape Town on Friday, Bridges For Music will take a day off before heading to the Kliptown Youth Centre in Johannesburg on Saturday, February 16th. Another afternoon of workshops begins with a 45-minute session hosted by prominent South African music figure Vinny da Vinci.
