Man shot outside Circo Loco event in Birmingham

- Demotix has reported that a man was shot in the stomach yesterday evening outside Circo Loco In The Arena. A series of photographs shows a police cordon outside the Rainbow venues on Adderley Street in the Digbeth area of Birmingham. Witnesses say that one of the venue's doors was rushed and a man was shot in the stomach at around 11.30 PM. BBC News reports that the man is in a critical condition in hospital. Though Saturday's programming continued until its scheduled midnight closing time, Sunday's event was cancelled. "We will have more information on tickets and refunds later this week," said organisers via Facebook. Circo Loco In The Arena is a joint, weekend-long event staged by Ibiza-based promoters Circo Loco and Type Festival. Speaking to the BBC, Det Insp Justin Spanner said the shooting "must have been very frightening for clubbers to witness. "We've been working hard to reduce gun crime across the region," he said, "but crimes like this—no matter how rare they are—tarnish Birmingham's reputation as a great place to enjoy a fantastic night out."
