The Edinburgh night's next anniversary will have a 50 Weapons theme.
With a focus on house and techno, Substance has become one of its home town's most prominent club nights. Past guests include some of the biggest names in dance music, with Jeff Mills, Luke Slater and Surgeon among those to have headlined in recent years. The upcoming birthday event, taking place on October 10th, will have a Modeselektions and 50 Weapons theme, enlisting founders Modeselektor and several acts on the labels' rosters for slots. Longtime associates Phon.o and Anstam will fly in from Berlin for live sets, while the UK's Benjamin Damage will DJ. Substance resident Gavin Richardson will be on support duties.
The night will be separated into two parts: the first, a Modeselektor "concert" with support from Anstam, will get underway at 7 PM, with an afterparty to follow and carry on until the early hours of the following morning. You'll have the chance to get started a little early tomorrow night, as the Substance crew will be throwing a launch party for Neil Landstrumm's new album, Dragon Under, at Bongo Club.
