The Barcelona festival has added 50 new artists to its bill.
Top of the pile is Nile Rodgers and Chic, who will perform their seminal disco tunes. The announcement is heavy on Scandinavian talent, with Neneh Cherry, Lykke Li, Todd Terje and Trentemøller all confirmed, while Röyksopp and Robyn will perform together. Other big names include Boys Noize, Loco Dice, Four Tet, Dâm-Funk and Audion, who will be playing his new live show. A few curveballs like Chris Madak (AKA Bee Mask), Roll The Dice, Love Cult and Suzanne Kraft were also unveiled, while long-time Sónar affiliates 2020Vision will return with a showcase featuring Debukas, Paul Woolford and Ralph Lawson. Last week organisers revealed that James Murphy and 2ManyDJs would be bringing their high-end Despacio sound system to Barcelona.
This year Sónar will also team up with Polish festival Unsound, with a joint presentation of Robert Piotrowicz as well as Oren Ambarchi and the Sinfonietta Cracovia. Organisers say more acts—including a few Spanish artists, Red Bull Music Academy names and some "surprises"—will be added in the next month or two. This year's festival runs from June 12th through 14th.
