The Australian group will release a compilation of current artists from their hometown in November.
Cut Copy have announced Oceans Apart, a roundup of Melbourne music to be released next month on their own Cutters label.
The three-piece band, who themselves hail from the Victorian capital, have spent much of the past few years touring abroad. Founding member Dan Whitford explains, however, that they've "always found deep inspiration in the music of our home city." He says the thriving state of Melbourne's dance scene prompted them to compile a release to showcase their current favourite acts from the city. The mix spans 19 tracks from as many artists, featuring names like Tornado Wallace, Fantastic Man, Roland Tings, Sleep D and Andras Fox, as well as Cutters labelmates Knightlife and Nile Delta. Oceans Apart will be available digitally on November 11th and as two vinyl EP samplers on the 18th. A launch party will be held as part of Melbourne Music Week at Queen Victoria Market on November 15th, with Cut Copy DJs joined by a number of the artists featured on the release.
