- The LP was commissioned for a WW1 commemoration in Belgium.
Rough Trade have announced details of Lament, the new album from Einstürzende Neubauten, due out November 7th.
The godfathers of German industrial music will premiere Lament live in Diksmuide, Belgium on November 8th. It was commissioned specifically for the event, which will commemorate the 100-year anniversary of a World War 1 battle that took place on the site. The highly conceptual LP attempts to evoke "the filth and terror of the industrialized 20th-century world at war with itself," says the label, while drawing influence from archaic nationalist songs, dadaist writing and algorithmic composition techniques.
They'll take the show on tour after their Belgian debut, playing three dates in Germany from November 8th through the 10th, followed by stops in Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Munich and Paris on the 17th. After that it's London, Utrecht, Slovenia, Bologna and Turin from the 19th to the 29th, rounding out November with a gig in Rome. The tour will wrap with appearances in Istanbul on December 3rd, Moscow on the 11th and St. Petersburg on the 12th.
