The afterhours club will host Ike Release, Hunee and Rahaan in the coming months.
Pittsburgh afterhours Hot Mass has announced its weekly shows through June, starting with Heartthrob at the Honcho night on April 4th.
The small club has become a hotly-tipped destination for underground DJs in the US and abroad—the club is situated in a bath house and is thus able to run far past the 2 AM closing time designated by Pennsylvania's liquor laws. Most of the time, the recently expanded space fills up with dancers by midnight and remains busy after 6 AM.
As previously stated, ISNISNT boss Heartthrob will visit the Strip District club on April 4th, playing the gay Honcho night with resident Clark Price and Daddy. On Friday the 10th, Rush Hour man Hunee spins for the budding DETOUR imprint. The next night, Montreal veteran Deadbeat brings his dubbed-out sound to the room with Thomas Schreiber, a German expat who runs the rizumu afterhours in Philly. M>O>S Recordings' man Ike Release will stop in at Pittsburgh Track Authority's residency night on the 18th, the Innerspace Halflife member's Steeltown debut. Local hardware techno dude Chase Smith will take the reins on the 25th, and he's booked an unannounced special guest to join him in the early morning hours.
Heading into May, the 2nd marks Honcho's return with SF jock Robert Jeffrey topping the bill. On the ninth, Future Times affiliates Protect-U are set to perform. Santiago Salazar, the LA-based Underground Resistance affiliate who is working with PTA on the release of his debut album Chicanismo, will visit the Burgh for a release show on May 16th. June 6th has Shawn Rudiman playing a rare DJ set. The gear head, who has made this year's Movement lineup, normally sets up a studio's worth a gear for improvised sets. He'll spin with Denver techno head Paul Fleetwood. Pride weekend fields another strong Midwest lineup featuring Detroit's DJ Minx and Argot/Smart Bar man Steve Mizek. On June 27th, Chicago edit boss Rahaan makes his Hot Mass debut, bringing the freedom-loving club into the 4th of July holiday and, if all goes according to plans, another round of bookings.
