  • Pittsburgh Modular has introduced a modular stomp box. Though their design makes them ideal for guitarists, stomp boxes are popular in studio and live electronic performance setups due to their portability, streamlined controls and durability. The Patch Box brings modular flexibility and control to a stomp box-style package. Built from heavy-duty steel, the box has five Eurorack slots and some complex options for routing sound into them. Its preamp has two outputs plus a patchable signal splitter, and there's also a true bypass option. A/B "foot" switches are fully assignable and patchable, and they allow for quick switches of how sound or modulation signal is routed. Though you can buy the Patch Box empty and fill it up yourself, Pittsburgh Modular will also sell a number of preconfigured systems featuring their own modules and some made by the Wisconsin-based Dwarfcraft Devices, each in "core" and more thorough "complete" configurations. You can check out the full rundown on the modular synth maker's website. Pittsburgh Modular will release the Patch Box in May 2015 for a suggested retail price of $349.
