The Ghostly International artist will release his second album in August.
Jakub Alexander released his first album, Loyal, on Ghostly International in 2012, but his relationship with the US outlet goes deeper—he's the label's head of A&R. This new LP has Alexander looking back on formative post-rave experiences had experienced as a teen growing up outside Detroit.
"I remember those mornings better than the holidays during those years, the drives home from Detroit at 7 AM were always stimulating," he says. "Everyone was so content, we'd usually listen to something deep and easy on the ears. This was a perfect time to let your mind wander." Alexander lists Terrence Dixon and Lawrence as influences on his increasingly beat-driven sound. (Heathered Pearls had previously been a mostly ambient project.)
