- The Detroit don's Wildheart Recordings will release a 12-inch from his group The Unit in late June.
The Unit will release the Ain't No Need EP via Theo Parrish's Wildheart Recordings later this month.
The Unit is a group that backed Parrish during his 2014 Teddy's Get Down European tour, comprising Detroit multi-instrumentalist Amp Fiddler, London musician Mr. Mensah, The Rotating Assembly member Duminie Deporres, ex-Electric Wire Hustle man Myele Manzanza and Detroit-based singer Ideeyah, along with a trio of dancers—Jade Soul, Mai Le and Dominique—choreographed by Gehrik. The EP consists of two recordings culled from those live shows: a cover version of Skye's 1976 funk cut "Ain't No Need," and a rendition of Parrish's own 1996 production "Walking Thru The Sky." RA's Aaron Coultate checked out The Unit's July 2014 concert at London's Barbican Centre—you can read his review here.
