- The UK duo's fourth album will come out through Gilles Peterson's Brownswood Recordings in October.
LV have announced the details of their next LP, Ancient Mechanisms, due out on October 9th.
Ancient Mechanisms follow's Islands, the duo's full-length collaboration with Joshua Idehen, making it their fourth altogether after Sebenza on Hyperdub and Routes (another collaboration with Idehen). This time, LV's muse is Tigran Hamasyan, an Armenian pianist they first worked with back in 2012 at a Maida Vale session for Gilles Peterson—you can check that out here. He appears on several of the album's tracks.
Peterson's label Brownswood will release Ancient Mechanisms, which was reportedly inspired by the way acoustic instruments themselves work, according to FACT. "We got into the sound that instruments make themselves," the group say. "Not just the production of the sound. We got into the actual sound of keys being hit."
The LP was created from a series of samples left over from a thrown-away portable piano as well as the sessions with Hamasyan, which were recorded in Belgium. You can stream "Transition" below.
