- The enigmatic techno producer will headline an Argot label showcase at Smart Bar in October.
Smart Bar will host TB Arthur at the Argot label showcase on Thursday, October 1st.
The anonymous artist TB Arthur surfaced last year with a series of white label techno records labeled as "test pressings." Speculation abounds as to the artist's identity.
In an April THUMP feature, editor Michelle Lhooq spoke to an unnamed spokesperson for the artist who claims that Arthur is a forgotten Chicago producer from the '90s. A representative from Berlin record shop Hard Wax also spoke to Pitchfork's Andrew Gaerig in February, explaining that the test pressings are inscribed with "MMMJR"—meaning they may have come from Metropolis Mastering Chicago, a well-known plant that closed in the late '90s.
TB Arthur will make his or her American live debut at Smart Bar thanks to Steve Mizek's Argot label, who released the Dubs From The DAT three-tracker in June. Rounding out the bill are Argot affiliates Olin, Savile and Mizek himself, DJing in a round robin style.
