The new club, located in Montparnasse, is a joint operation between Sonotown and La Rafinerie.
Located at the foot of the Montparnasse tower, Virgo's address won't be totally new for regulars of the city's club scene. Previously known as Le Redlight, the 1700-capacity club will open its doors every Friday with Parisian promoters Sonotown and La Rafinerie at the controls. Though the full programme will be announced on September 15th, details of the first two parties have been shared.
On September 25th, Lucy, Kyle Hall, Mike Dehnert, Roman Lindau and Sascha Rydell will all spin for the opening, supported by local artists Mad Rey, Neue Grafik and Benales. 50Weapons trio FJAAK have also been locked in for a live performance. The following week, on October 2nd, will see DJ Sneak share the decks with Point G and Lazare Hoche in the first room, while the second room hosts Digital Mystikz.
We spoke with Julien Boisseau, Virgo's head of communication and Sonotown affiliate, to find out more:
How long has Virgo been in the works?Tickets for Virgo are available here on RA.
Virgo is our first project with La Rafinerie. It's an idea we've had for one or two years. Even though we have a lot in common, Virgo will be the first union of our two aesthetics and will showcase a large spectrum of music, mainly electronic but not limited to it.
There are a lot of events going on at the moment in Paris. What do you have in mind with this new club?
Electronic music is flourishing in Paris right now. There are a lot of new projects and many clubs open while others close. We have entered into a period of mutation. In this context, Virgo aims to propose an alternative to what’s currently happening in the city, with something big and technically flawless. Our two rooms will feature proper soundsystems (Void and D&B) and we will host exciting but still innovative lineups. We want to create a regular rendez-vous every Friday. We are only announcing our two first events for now but I can tell you we already working on upcoming parties with Parisian promoters like Mercredi Production, Allo Floride, Blocaus and Haiku.
