The Pittsburgh music festival will also host Olin, Patricia and XXYYXX throughout their weeklong program starting later this month.
The Pittsburgh music festival, now in its sixth year, offers lectures, screenings and workshops in addition to live music and DJ sets. It takes place across a number of local venues, with roughly one daytime and one nighttime event per day, leading up to the main event on the closing Saturday.
The wide-reaching program touches on hip-hop and punk as well as experimental performance and dance music, with rap pioneer MC Lyte, XXYYXX and Jessy Lanza scheduled to play their main event alongside members of the Discwoman collective, who will take over a separate downstairs room. Hyperdub mainstay Ikonika will top the lineup for their block party on September 26th, joined by the garage rock outfit Sheer Mag and New York rapper Princess Nokia, among others.
Footwork innovator RP Boo will swing through in the midst of his world tour to headline at an event organized by the local label Hoko Sounds the following night, and on the 28th the composer and sound artist Marina Rosenfeld will offer a site-specific performance at the CMU College of Fine Arts. Hot Mass will host Olin, Patricia and others at a Detour Records showcase on Friday, and Saturday will see two nighttime events: the Women In Sound zine release party, as well as the aforementioned main event, which goes down at Spirit Lodge in Lawrenceville.
