- The two artists will head in from New York for a show this weekend hosted by a student events group on the Oberlin College campus.
Shawn O'Sullivan and 51717 are due in Oberlin, Ohio this Saturday for a night at The 'Sco, Oberlin College's on-campus bar.
It's another intriguing booking from the school's Student Union Programming Committee (SUPC), which has hosted or helped to host Pharmakon, Tim Hecker, Aurora Halal and more this year. Two New York-based artists, each with prior connections to Ron Morelli's L.I.E.S. label, are confirmed for this one. Increasingly busy techno purveyor Shawn O'Sullivan—he teamed up with Beau Wanzer for an album as Civil Duty, and he's been causing a stir with the abstract, pop-inflected sounds of Further Reductions, his collaboration alongside Katie Rose O'Sullivan—will make the trip, as will 51717. The alias of Lili Schulder (who's also made music as half of Shadowlust and Ueli), 51717's moody, atmospheric productions, often laced with vocals, have appeared on Opal Tapes and Jealous God. Entry is open to the public, and Oberlin College students get a discount at the door.
