- The Iranian-born, UK-based producer's second LP deals with manipulated field recordings.
Ash Koosha will release his second album through Ninja Tune on April 1st.
The Iranian producer, now living in London, surfaced last year with the self-released GUUD, which was quickly snapped up and reissued by experimental label Olde English Spelling Bee. Now Koosha has moved on to Ninja Tune for I AKA I, which takes his own field recordings as its primary materials.
Koosha "squeezes, stretches, distorts and moulds units of sound" using techniques and ideas he learned during his tenure at the Tehran Conservatory Of Music, before he was imprisoned for his experimental music and led to seek asylum in the UK. He calls his process "finding geometry in sounds." The album will be presented as a virtual-reality "experience" at a handful of viewings later this year. For now, you can listen to "Mudafossil" below.
