- The new record combines ideas from early rave music with grime and hip-hop.
Darq E Freaker's next EP will come via Big Dada in April.
London producer Jeremiah Valentino Ntéh has been releasing grime and hip-hop instrumentals since 2010, landing on labels like Oil Gang, Tru Thoughts and Numbers. He got his big break when Detroit rapper Danny Brown hopped on one of his beats for "Blueberry (Pills & Cocaine)." Just a few weeks ago, Ntéh released a ten-track mixtape made in collaboration with a handful of MCs, and now he's moved over to his biggest label yet—Ninja Tune's Big Dada—for his next solo release.
ADHD is inspired by early rave music, particularly the kind that Ntéh watched on Top Of The Pops as a kid. "I'm trying to fuse rave… with grime & hip-hop groovers, drops, drum patterns and basslines," he says. "This project isn't solely me, it's me pushing some of the musical influence of my adolescence into my adulthood. It's nostalgic in the most progressive way."
