- The heavily collaborative record features Om Unit, Resound and others.
Digital has unveiled his first album in 7 years, Synthesis, due out in April.
Real name Steve Carr, the UK producer has been a staple in the drum & bass scene since the mid-'90s, emerging as a contemporary of innovators like Photek. He established his own label, Function, around the turn of the millennium, and has since been a reliable presence in the scene, releasing several records every year along with three albums along the way. His fourth, Synthesis, follows 2009's Red Letter, which was a team-up with Outrage. This new one is also collaborative in nature, but this time Carr works with different producers for every track, including Om Unit, Need For Mirrors, Klute, Resound and Total Science. He travelled to work with each collaborator in person, rather than just sending files to each other.
“I’ve made a conscious effort to move away from an album that has only one sound," Carr says. "With this album, each collaborator contributes their unique styles to a collective synthesised vision."
Synthesis will come out over four separate releases through the month of April, with each coming on digital and vinyl formats. Check out clips below.
