Cosmic Machine, The Sequel will land on Because Music in May.
It's a follow-up to 2013's Cosmic Machine: A Voyage Through French Cosmic & Electronic Avantgarde, which showcased the country's psychedelic electronic sounds from the '70s. The Sequel goes a few years further into the future, incorporating cuts from the '80s as well. Compiled by French vinyl collector Olivier Carrié, AKA Uncle O, both collections aim to shed light on a scene that was overshadowed by its American and German counterparts at the time.
This wide-reaching second volume includes tracks from Roger Roger, one of the first composers to experiment with Moog synthesizers, as well as Arpadys, a cult act from the fringes of disco. The label's also landed cuts from Richard Pinhas's Heldon and Pascal Comelade for the collection. Elsewhere, Araxis, Queen Samantha, The Peppers and The Moonbirds contribute to the 22 track compilation, which deals heavily in retro sci-fi motifs.
