- The Toraiz SP-16 is out this summer.
Pioneer DJ have announced a new sampler geared at DJs, the Toraiz SP-16.
The hardware device features 16 sampler engines controlled by a 16-step sequencer, which can be synced via Pro DJ Link to a CDJ. You can use the 16 velocity-sensitive touch pads to trigger loops or one-shot samples that are loaded into the device with a USB or from internal memory. Analogue high- and low-pass filters taken from the Prophet-6 synthesiser have been supplied by Dave Smith, while controls for time-stretching, pitch bend and amp envelope are available via six rotary knobs and a ribbon strip. A seven-inch colour touch screen provides information on samples and eight assignable outputs compliment a built-in mixer for controlling and routing audio.
The announcement comes after a recent upgrade to Pioneer DJ's rekordbox software and news of prototype CDJs and mixer at NAMM.
