- The New York duo's fifth LP lands in June.
Xeno & Oaklander will release Topiary via Ghostly International in early June.
The Brooklyn-based duo, consisting of Liz Wendelbo and Sean McBride, has been releasing minimal synth music since the mid-2000s. While their earlier material mostly came via the analogue-centric Weird Records, they've called Ghostly International home since 2013. Topiary is their second LP for Ghostly, and their first to be recorded in a fully-equipped professional studio. It's meant to channel the raw, elemental forces of nature. "We've always referred to our synths as elemental," says Wendelbo. "Fire is what powers energy, voltage, andelectricity. Electromagnetism is electric energy, like lightning in the sky. We control it with potentiometers and buttons; we shape it with filters and envelopes."
