- The music retail site says they've paid out $4.3M in the last 30 days alone.
Bandcamp reports that they've made $150 million for artists in the last eight years and $4.3 in the last month alone.
The DIY music seller has almost a million people signed up to fan accounts as of April 2016. It's known for its artist-friendly business model, and many independent labels prefer the site to corporate retailers or streaming services. Basic accounts are free to open, and Bandcamp takes 15% of digital sales or 10% on physical merchandise. (The revenue share on digital drops from 15% to 10% as soon as you reach $5,000 USD in sales.) The site also has a social component, allowing users to connect and surf for new music, and an editorial side that involves original radio shows and articles.
