- The NYPD has confirmed that Jen Schiffer was booked for writing bad checks that amount to $31,000.
Jen Schiffer, who owns Verboten with her husband John Perez, has been arrested for writing fraudulent checks.
The NYPD has confirmed that Schiffer was arrested in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, at around 12:53 PM on April 7th, Gothamist reports. She was charged in connection with writing five fraudulent checks in the amount of $31,000, and is now in custody.
One week ago, Verboten was seized by the New York State government for outstanding tax payments of over $360,000. Schiffer and Perez filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy the next day, allowing the club to remain operational while they evaluated their finances.
