A new online music retailer, The Mixtape Shop, is now open.
Founded in 2009 as a tool for sharing and discovering new music, the site relaunched this year as an online vinyl record store. Their broad inventory spans many decades of dance music, from jazz, funk and soul to disco, house and techno. Users can stream monthly mixes that showcase staff favorites and link directly to the records. One recent mix, "Alien Abduction" highlights releases from Anthony Naples, DJ Fett Burger and Legowelt, among others. Their office is based in Brooklyn, and they plan to host a series of pop-up events around NYC this year.
