The club is to remain open despite the "very hard blow."
Copenhagen night club Culture Box will cease to receive funding from the State of Denmark next year.
In a press release, the club announced that an annual state contribution of 1,800,000 Danish Krone (roughly 240,000€) will cease in 2017. No reason was given. The club says its 2016 programming will remain unaffected but described the news as a "very hard blow" to an "already strained budget."
Culture Box has been in operation for over a decade and regularly books the cream of electronic dance music. This month it's hosting the likes of Vera, Ø [Phase], Kobosil, Dasha Rush, Claire Morgan and Sigha, while June sees Steffi, Martyn and more play as part of this year's Distortion Festival programme. The club also recently installed a new Void Acoustics soundsystem in its basement room, Red Box.
