- The Scottish artist's next full-length will land in July.
Konx-om-Pax will release a new LP called Caramel on July 8th.
Before emerging as Konx-om-Pax with Regional Surrealism in 2012, Glaswegian Tom Scholefield was probably better known as a visual artist and designer. Most recently, he provided visuals for Lone on tour, an experience that helped to inspire his new record, along with his move to a nicer neighbourhood in Glasgow. According to label Planet Mu, this lends Caramel a "lightness and energy." It was also influenced by Scholefield's time listening to old rave tapes, where "the tracks are like photocopies of photocopies of rave tracks, where the drums have dissolved and it's just the melodies that have survived."
"A lot of the tracks are very simple, that’s quite an important theme," he adds. "I remember the Human League talk about how you can play their songs using only a couple of fingers on the synth, or Boards Of Canada saying its important to be able to hum their melodies really easily."
