Pioneer DJ has released a new CDJ and mixer.
The CDJ-TOUR1 and DJM-TOUR1 were displayed as prototypes back in January at the NAMM conference. As the name and spec sheet suggests, these new models are aimed at festival and big arenas. Although remaining visually similar to their NXS2 counterparts, the TOUR1 series come with colour touch-screens running rekordbox on internal CPUs, which display up to four waveforms, track database and other controls. You can also search tracks with a QWERTY keyboard.
Both models include an ESS Technology 32-bit D/A converter for low noise and distortion on big rigs, reinforced sides, lockable LAN ports and gold-plated RCAs with a dynamic range of 129db. Pioneer says the DJM-TOUR1 is the first mixer to include a world clock input for audio synchronisation with front of house, along with an AES/EBU digital output for routing high-quality audio over long distances. Like Richie Hawtin's new mixer, it also features a split cue system with two independent headphone sections to streamline back-to-back sets. Apart from the new screen and reinforced frame, the CDJ-TOUR1 appears very similar to the CDJ-NXS2.
