The house and disco connoisseur selects tunes from Zogo, Black Beat Niks and Kenny Larkin for the first edition of the new compilation series.
Hunchin All Night is the first edition in a new series that will see various Rush Hour affiliates at the helm. The label says it has "plenty of ideas about compilations and we decided to finally start executing some of these ideas." Hunee's collection has the same variety as his DJ sets, with tunes from the '70s through to present day. There's African music, house and techno, and though the tracklist hasn't been revealed yet, Rush Hour say that Boncana Maiga, Zogo, Black Beat Niks, Kenny Larkin and Mappa Mundi are all included.
The recently announced Surinam Funk Force compilation, curated by Thomas Gesthuizen and Rush Hour founder Antal Heitlager, is the second edition in the series, though it will actually come out before Hunee's instalment. Surinam Funk Force was four years in the making, Rush Hour says, and the package will contain background music on the hard-to-find selections the appear in the compilation.
Last year Hunee oversaw the Soichi Terada retrospective Sounds From The Far East, which was RA's number one compilation of 2015. He also released his first album, Hunch Music, which came in at number ten in our top albums rundown. We profiled the Amsterdam-based DJ in April of 2015—read that article here.
Hunchin All Night will be released post-summer 2016 on Rush Hour Music.
