  • In a recent interview, Detroit techno pioneers Juan Atkins, Kevin Saunderson and Derrick May, AKA the "Belleville Three," said they'll be touring in 2017. Techno's founding fathers, who attended Belleville High School in Detroit together, haven't performed as a unit since 2010, when they appeared at the Awakenings Festival in the Netherlands. Speaking with We Got This Covered, Saunderson said "What I can say for the future is that we're working on a tour now, for all three of us as the Belleville Three. We're gonna try to kick it off next year, and it's gonna start out with DJing and evolve into a much bigger thing, too." The news on the foundational trio's reunion comes a couple weeks after the annual Movement festival. In the week leading up to the 2016 edition of Movement, the Detroit City Council honored Atkins, Saunderson and May (along with other Detroit figures like Jeff Mills, Eddie Fowlkes and Kelli Hand) with testimonial resolutions and "Spirit Of Detroit" awards for their musical contributions.
