  • Daniele Baldelli has a new three-tracker called Volcano Extravaganza on the way—it's out on July 1st. The new record was inspired by the Sicilian festival of the same name, a boldly programmed event that Baldelli headlined in 2015. The Vinyl Factory is handling the release, and they've provided a quote from the Italian veteran explaining the wide-ranging style of DJing he developed in the '70s and '80s: "Why I have to play two hours of only funky or only disco? I like to play every kind of music together, and that’s what I like to say is my cosmic style." True to form, he starts off the EP with a remix of krautrock legend Manuel Gottsching's Ashra. The chosen track, "Shuttlecock," originally appeared on Ashra's 1978 album Blackouts. Baldelli reworked the song with fellow Italian producer Marco Dionigi. The duo also collaborated on another EP that came out this year, Sit Back. Baldelli rounds out Volcano Extravaganza with a couple of solo originals. The 12-inch comes with an inner sleeve animation as well as notes from the festival's curator, Milovan Farronato. Listen to Baldelli's RA Podcast.
