A new music venue, Spiritland, is set to open at King's Cross in London.
Spiritland was formerly set up in the Merchants Tavern in Shoreditch. Its new home in north London has a café, a bar and a shop selling music on vinyl and CD alongside audio equipment and accessories. (The cost of headphones will range from £30 to £3,000.)
The venue's focus is on high-end audio. Its soundsystem has been custom designed by Living Voice, a specialist in high-end audio performance. (The company is responsible for the Vox Olympian speakers, which cost a cool £340,000.) The setup will be shown off each weekday from 6 PM, when an album is played from start to finish on a Kuzma Stabi XL2 turntable.
The music policy is set to be broad, with the venue telling RA they'll cover "anything from Parliament-Funkadelic to Judee Sill to Talk Talk to Donald Fagen." There's also a radio studio, called Spiritland Sound Studio, where it's possible to produce radio shows and podcasts. The bar will run a series of events both music-related (DJ sets, artist talks) and not (whisky tastings, pub quizzes).
Spiritland is set to open at 9-10 Stable Street, N1C, in mid-September.
