Known for his extraordinary talent and creativeness, Junkie XL surpised Amsterdam by hosting an illegal party a couple of weeks ago on May 31. The whole gig was kept a secret until the last minute as people were told to wait at the Noordermarkt. Junkie had rigged 3 levels at a canal side house and played to around 5,000 people who were there because Junkie wanted to thank them for the inspiration he has gained from living the city.
Junkie says "This gig was a protest to the ongoing palling of the city Amsterdam. We did try to set up a surprise gig with approval of the council of the city of Amsterdam but with the strict political climate nothing seems possible anymore".
Junkie's album 'Radio JXL: Broadcast From The Computer Hell Cabin' was release on June 2.
