  • Antenes will be in Pittsburgh this Saturday, presenting a demonstration of her synth gear and playing live at Cattivo. The multi-part event will be hosted by the Lateral collective alongside Pittsburgh Modular Synthesizers, a company that specializes in analog hardware. It'll start at 7 PM with a synth playground, or "petting zoo," offering attendees a chance to tinker with Pittsburgh Modular instruments, before Antenes—AKA Lori Napoleon, a Brooklyn-based producer who's released on L.I.E.S.—gives a live demo of the synths she's made using old telephone switchboards as well as some of her other vintage gear. (The switchboard project was done on commission from Moogfest earlier this year—we highlighted that exhibit in our review of the Durham, North Carolina festival.) Both the synth playground and Napoleon's demo will be free and open to the public. The ticketed portion of the night will see Paul Fleetwood, a former Pittsburgh resident now living in Denver, play a DJ set, after which Napoleon will perform live to close things out. Get ready for the show with this set of ambient recordings from Napoleon.
