  • Skaņu Mežs Festival returns in 2016. The Latvian operation is situated in the capital of Riga, presenting 22 performances of adventurous electronic music for four days in October (from the 13th to the 16th) and another day in November (the 12th). The festival launches with a free event on the 13th at Art Museum Riga Bourse, where pianist R. Andrew Lee will play Dennis Johnson's pioneering minimalist composition, "November," a five-hour piece credited with inspiring the likes of La Monte Young. The 14th and 15th will feature the likes of Klara Lewis, Killing Sound, Peder Mannerfelt, Tropic Of Cancer and Vatican Shadow, while M.E.S.H. will appear with Thomas Lehn at the Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre on the 16th. The final concert in November features headliners Autechre in addition to Russell Haswell and Skam Records label head Andy Maddocks.
