  • Patrick Cowley and Candida Royalle's collaborative EP, Candida Cosmica, will land on Dark Entries in October. Cowley was one of the key producers behind San Francisco's hi-NRG sound in the late '70s and early '80s. He also soundtracked a number of gay porn films, music that Dark Entries collected for its School Daze and Muscle Up retrospectives. Next up is a collaborative five-track EP from the late Cowley and his then-roommate Candice Vadalla, AKA Candida Royalle, who passed away a year ago. Vadalla was a singer and actress from Queens, New York, who became involved with feminist erotic films, performance art and drag while she was living with Cowley in San Francisco's Haight-Ashbury neighborhood. Candida Cosmica showcases her experimental vocal work, with Cowley on synthesizers, percussion, modified guitars and hand-built equipment. It contains 30 minutes of music recorded between 1973 and '75.
