- It's the first in a series of releases about early-onset dementia.
Leyland James Kirby has revived his The Caretaker alias for a new album out this week.
The Caretaker is probably Kirby's best-known project, responsible for albums like 2002's A Stairway To The Stars. Everywhere At The End Of Time is his first new one in four years, and it's the first in a series of six that he'll release over the next three years, meant to explore the effects of early-onset dementia. Each record "will reflect a stage in the deterioration of memory," according to the label, "falling towards nothingness with each volume." The first three will be collected into a triple-CD set in fall 2017, with the final three due out in 2019, all through his History Always Favours The Winners imprint.
Memories have long been a preoccupation of Kirby's. Most recently, he explored Alzheimer's disease on 2011's An Empty Bliss Beyond This World, inspired by the way that music could trigger memories once thought lost in patients.
