  • Discwoman's two-year anniversary party will go down at Sugar Hill Disco in Brooklyn this Saturday. The collective, which aims to uplift female-identified DJs and producers, grew out of a two-night festival at Bossa Nova Civic Club in the fall of 2014. Since then they've snapped up a residency at smartbar in Chicago, hosted The Black Madonna's debut in Mexico City and toured all over Europe and the Americas. Discwoman's roster spans a wide swath of genres, and the lineup for their two-year anniversary party reflects that range. At the top of the lineup is Indiana footwork star Jlin, playing alongside live techno experimentalist Bergsonist and Toronto selector CL. Residents from the much-loved Papi Juice party are also booked, as is Bronx rapper Quay Dash, KUNQ crew member Stud1nt and Turtle Bugg, the resident DJ of 808, who are co-presenting the gig. It all goes down at the Sugar Hill Disco in Bed-Stuy, where, as usual, there will be fried chicken plates on the menu all night. Ten percent of all proceeds will go to benefit the Callen-Lorde Community Health Center, which provides resources and treatment to LGBTQ patients.
