  • Portland duo Visible Cloaks released Valve / Valve (Revisited) on RVNG Intl. today, October 5th. Ryan Carlile and Spencer Doran released a self-titled LP last year. Doran is a noted crate-digger, and one of the mixes he prepared for the Root Strata blog, Fairlights, Mallets and Bamboo, presaged a serious revival of '80s Japanese electronic pop. It's fitting that the irfirst release for RVNG is a collaboration with Dip In The Pool, who were the subject of a well-received reissue from Music From Memory. The label says "'Valve' translates vocalist Miyako Koda’s spoken word from 'A Sea of Love', the end track on her stunning solo album Jupiter (soon being reissued on Grandisc), into a MIDI chordal movement." "Valve (Revisited)," meanwhile, has Koda contributing new vocals with co-production from Visible Cloaks and the other half of Dip In The Pool, Tatsuji Kim. Watch the video for the collaboration.
