  • Ricardo Villalobos and Umho will put out a two-track EP called Melo De Melo on December 6th. Melo De Melo focuses on Chile's dance music legacy. The label, Drumma Records, is run by Felipe Venegas out of Santiago. For its 15th release, Drumma pairs the country's leading export, Villalobos, with one of Santiago's most beloved DJs, Umho. (The duo have played together in the past.) These two tracks were produced last winter in Berlin, and the label says their syncopation and melodies display "fundamental traits of the Latin American continent's culture." The longtime friends both had a hand in the first cut, "Por Suerte," while the title track is credited solely to Villalobos. The collaborative record rounds off a busy production year for Villalobos. He's issued EPs on Melisma Records and Raum...musik, and remixed Prins Thomas, D.F.X. and Oren Ambarchi. Villalobos also contributed to the Ambarchi's latest album, Hubris, which is out next month.
