’Hit the Decks’ is a new Chicago-based non-profit organization that is dedicated to bringing the art of deejaying to underprivileged Inner City teenagers. Their goal is to provide permanent deejay equipment installations to youth homeless shelters and after-school programs and then offer up weekly mentor and instructional sessions with local established DJ's.
In a world where statistics show that crime in the city is being perpetrated by younger and younger children every year, the search for new and meaningful outlets and activities for kids with not enough money and too much time is core to the mission statement of ‘Hit The Decks’. Partial proceeds for this event will be matched by store credit from Midwest Stereo and Gramaphone Records and donated to ‘Hit The Decks’, so head on down and support!
Derrick Carter has joined the push to help out the kids and along with a superb July 17 Thursday@Pure line-up ‘Hit The Decks’ looks set to be a great party, for a great cause. The full line-up as follows:
