Nina Kraviz hits back at criticism of DJ set in Melbourne

- Nina Kraviz has taken to Facebook to address criticism of her DJ set in Melbourne on Saturday. In a lengthy statement, Kraviz hits out at attendees who claimed she didn't play the techno set they expected—some even asked for their money back. "People wanted techno and I offered none in their opinion," Kraviz writes. "In fact, all I played was pretty much techno, at least in my own definition, but of a much broader spectrum. They wanted three hours of long steady beat narrative, and I offered something that didn't match their expectations. But surprisingly the most negative comments I got for playing that one wild track with a drum & bass segment in the end." The Russian DJ/producer was billed alongside Marcel Dettmann and Bjarki for an afternoon-into-evening open-air hosted by local promoters Novel. According to Kraviz, around 4,000 people were in attendance, and she played tracks by Shackleton, Bjarki and DJ Slugo. Her Australian tour continues this weekend, with dates in Sydney and Perth.
