- Mind Merge, credited to Frequency vs Atkins, will be the first joint full-length from the two techno artists.
Out-er (Out Electronic Recordings) has announced details of Mind Merge, a collaborative album from Juan Atkins and Orlando Voorn.
The two techno artists and longtime friends started working together more than two decades ago, though their partnership had been mostly quiet on the release front in recent years. Now, after contributing "Reloaded," a Frequency vs Atkins track, to Out-er's new five-year anniversary compilation, that Berlin-based label is preparing to put out the pair's first jointly-produced album, also credited to Frequency vs Atkins. (Frequency is one of Voorn's many aliases.)
We're told to expect "a beautiful quintessence of Detroit electro, funk and techno" with Mind Merge, which will be out on March 6th as an eight-track double-vinyl pack along with a digital download featuring "Reloaded" and one other bonus cut.
Out-er is also launching in 2017 a new album-only sub-label, Pregnant Void, with a focus on "contemporary electroacoustic music." Its first release is the Absolute Cosmic Principles LP from Mørk, the Italian duo of Emanuele Pertoldi (AKA Shaded Explorer, who's previously released two albums on Silent Season) and Francesco Devincenti. That one is also due out on March 6th. A tracklist is still TBA.
