  • !K7 is launching a new neo-classical label called 7K!. An electronic music institution thanks to its wide-ranging catalog of studio releases and its DJ-Kicks mix series, !K7 plans on "offering something quite different" with 7K!. To start, the new platform just released two tracks from Italian composer and multi-instrumentalist Luca D'Alberto, "Wait For Me" and "Blessed Messenger," leading up to the Endless album, due in early 2017. It looks to be D'Alberto's first artist LP—he's known mostly for soundtrack work and other multimedia collaborations, and he's been praised by respected filmmakers including Wim Wenders and Fernando Arrabal. He played all the instruments on the album, which was engineered by Martyn Heyne (who's also worked with artists like Nils Frahm and Lubomir Melnyk), with additional production by Henrik Schwarz. A tracklist and release date have yet to be revealed. !K7 CEO Horst Weidenmüller, who's also the executive producer for Endless, a role he's never played before within the company, says listening to D'Alberto's music was what led to the idea of a new label: "This new experience opened me up to so much amazing sounds that I decided to dedicate an entire department to this beautiful music." Along with neo-classical projects, he promises 7K! will be home to ambient and experimental material. To celebrate its launch, 7K! and the new Berlin digital radio station neoFM will host a live performance from D'Alberto with a four-piece ensemble on January 27th. Listen to "Wait For Me."
7K! will release Endless in early 2017.
