  • honkytonksFollowing on from Luke Solomon last weekend, it's the turn of Brendan M. Gillen (Ectomorph, BMG) to play the piano at Honkytonks in Melbourne, on Friday 1 August. A Detroit native, Brendan M. Gillen (BMG) is half of Ectomorph with Erika, and Interdimensional Transmissions label head. Sine 1995 Ectomorph have pushed the boundaries of electro and had releases on BMG's own label as well as labels Ghostly International and International Deejay Gigolo. Their live sets, which can combine cabaret along with machine funk, have taken them to gigs around the world including festivals such as Sonar and The Love Parade. BMG's will be playing a laptop DJ set at Honkys on Friday. His reputation is unsurpassed for his laptop sets. With skilled misuse of software he blends up to ten sound sources, creating new tracks out of bits of old tracks, mixed with his own loops. He reinvents the old and remixes the new, creating a solid new sound which has amazed even the original programmers. Entry is $10. Two words, get there. Set times 6 - 10: Mr Geoffrey 10 - 12: Space Space Vs Boogs 12 - 3: BMG 3 - 5: Boogs Vs Spacey Space
