- The Programm LPs outline a pivotal moment in German music history.
Mannequin will release two Din A Testbild albums.
Din A Testbild was a pioneering force in a German scene that combined post-punk, new wave, industrial and avant-garde electronics in the late '70s and early '80s. Comprised of Gudrun Gut—founder of Malaria! and early member of Einstürzende Neubauten—and Mark Eins, the duo released a series of influential records on Klaus Schulze's Innovative Communication label.
Mannequin has since reissued the first two LPs, Programm 1 and Programm 2 , and has recently announced plans to press the group's following two albums, Programm 3 and Programm 4. According to Mannequin, the latter record was rejected in 1983 by Innovative Communication on the grounds of being too "synth/punk/techno." Mannequin founder Alessandro Adriani apparently got in touch with Mark Eins, leading to the album being finally released over three decades later. The record was engineered by another pivotal player in German music, Manuel Göttsching, best known as creator of E2-E4 and a member of Ash Ra Tempel.
Both LPs are available in runs of 500 vinyl units.
Listen to clips from both records.
