- Sean Thomas will release The Weigh EP on Hubert Clarke Jr's imprint this month.
Sydney artist Hubert Clarke Jr will launch his OTIS Records label on March 28th.
The new imprint comes 18 months after Clarke Jr first opened his now-dormant record store, Outer Time Inner Space, which stocked everything from house, techno and disco to jazz, Japanese pop and African folk. His broad tastes will inform the new label project which launches with the debut of Sean Thomas, a fresh moniker from Sydney producer Thomas McAlister.
McAlister, who also releases music as Cop Envy, will deliver a four-track EP titled The Weigh on OTIS this month. Clarke Jr. says the record features "heady melodic inflections that float atop peak-time, rolling rhythmic beds in what feels like an ode to the late 90s, limited-capacity club excursions of Western Australia’s Red Ember Records or the UK’s Phono label."
