The veteran DJ said he's "stripping it down" to "unadulterated techno and house."
Carl Cox has discussed details of the concept behind two Ibiza parties he announced last month.
The veteran DJ is bringing his Pure brand to Privilege, the 10,000-capacity venue in San Rafael, on July 11th and 18th. (Cox launched Pure last year as a festival in Australia.) In comments that seem to address longstanding concerns over the expansion of VIP clubbing on Ibiza, Cox said he would be "stripping it down" on his return.
"I really, really want to get people to understand at the end of the day that you don't pull your phone out because there's fireworks going off," he told Mixmag. "You don't pull your phone out because there are three DJs standing on top of the turntables or the CDJs or even their laptop and telling people to jump. We're not doing any of that stuff. We're stripping it down and getting people to hear raw, unadulterated techno and house music. If you're not into it, I would just say 'don't come down, don't bother.'"
Cox ended his 15-year residency at Space Ibiza last year. The end of Cox's time at the club was the subject of our documentary, Carl Cox: Space Is The Place, which was broadcast in November on Channel 4.
