- The Hotel Record LP comes out in May on Ambarchi's Black Truffle imprint.
Oren Ambarchi and Crys Cole have a second full-length called Hotel Record on the way.
It's the pair's second album, following their 2014 LP Sonja Henies Vei 31. While that one "presented a disquieting portrait of the erotic dimension of romantic intimacy," according to the label, Hotel Record explores the couple's everyday life "as a musical duo, as a pair of travelers to exotic locations, as opponents in a game of cards." Hotel Record integrates organ, guitar, '80s digital synth sounds, Buchla and field recordings made in Thailand over four distinct pieces.
The collaboration follows Ambarchi's well-received 2016 solo LP Hubris, which saw him collaborating with Mark Fell and Ricardo Villalobos, among others. The latter also remixed that material on the Hubris Variation EP.
RA profiled Ambarchi last last year. Check out that feature here.
